Cosmos privacy policy
What the Cosmos app and website keep, and what stays on your PC.
Last updated: 2026-10-10
1. Who we are
Cosmos is the game launcher of ESO OS and the website esocosmos.dpdns.org, run by the ESO team (Algeria). Cosmos uses your ESO account, the same account as esoos.dpdns.org and ESmail. Privacy questions: support@esoos.dpdns.org.
2. Summary
Cosmos works fully without an account. Your games, play time and settings stay on your PC.
If you sign in, Cosmos syncs your library to your ESO account so you see it on every PC and on the website. You can sign out or remove it any time.
No ads, no analytics, no tracking.
3. What stays on your PC
Cosmos looks for games installed on your PC (its own games, Steam, Heroic/Epic/GOG/Amazon, Lutris, Flathub and games you add) to show them in one library. This scan happens only on your PC; nothing is sent while you are signed out.
Play time, favourites, hidden games and settings are saved in your home folder (~/.local/share/eso/cosmos).
4. Cloud library (only when signed in)
When you are signed in and cloud sync is on, Cosmos sends: each game's name, an internal ID, where it comes from (for example Cosmos Store or Steam), minutes played, when you last played, whether it is a favourite and whether it is installed, plus a random ID and the name of the PC. That is all: no files, no screenshots, no hardware details.
This data is visible only to you, on esocosmos.dpdns.org/library/ and in Cosmos. You can remove single games or everything, or turn sync off in Cosmos.
5. Downloads
Cosmos Store games are downloaded directly from each game's official release servers (for example GitHub or the OpenTTD CDN). Those servers see your IP address, under their own privacy policies. Cosmos checks every file's SHA-256 fingerprint before installing it.
To run Windows games, Cosmos can download its runtime (umu-launcher and GE-Proton from GitHub); on first use the runtime downloads a Linux container from Valve's public servers. No Steam account is used or needed. Game art may be loaded from Flathub or Steam's public image servers.
6. Account and cookies
Signing in uses your ESO account (see the ESmail and ESO OS policies for the account data). The website uses the eso_s cookie to keep you signed in and eso_in to show that you are; the Cosmos app keeps the same sign-in in a private file (0600) on your PC.
7. Who processes the data
The website and the cloud library run on Cloudflare, which processes data on our behalf. We never sell or share your data.
8. Keeping and deleting
The cloud library stays until you remove it or delete your ESO account; deleting the account removes it. Local data stays on your PC until you remove Cosmos or its folder.
9. Children
Cosmos lists games for many ages; each game shows its own content. Accounts are not meant for children under 13.
10. Changes
If this policy changes we update this page and the date above.
